Girl of the Week is...

Whitney

At long last, the Girl of the Week is finally Whitney! There are a lot of girls in line to be GotW, Whitney being one of them, and I finally got some awesome pictures of her.

Let's learn about Whitney...she's a sophomore RTVF major from Coppell, Texas. I'm somewhat familiar with the city of Coppell. It's fairly close to Flower Mound and Lewisville, and my church sits on the border between Lewisville and Coppell. Other notable Coppellites include Eric Anton, the Parsons sisters, and Troy Aikman.

News flash! Whitney's parents don't live in Coppell anymore. They bought a new house in Bartonville, which I bet you know even less about. Bartonville is a small town, comprised mostly of houses on acreage and ranchland. It's within the Marcus High School district, so not too far from where I live in Flower Mound.

Whitney may be a small girl, but she packs a punch. She's the sweetest girl you'll ever meet, and she knows how to cheer someone up. Last May, right after I had jaw surgery, she and Geoff came over to the house and played Monopoly with me. Granted, I could barely talk with my jaw wired shut, but she brought me a smoothie and everyone had a great time.

I usually see her these days with a camera around her neck. These pictures were taken on Monday, when I had to investigate Scott, Dietz, Russell, and Brian posing as rappers for their pop music class. Whitney had to get some sweet pics of this action too. (Scott was a rapper with a toothbrush around his neck, calling himself "Oral-B"). Whit and I also got to sit through History of Broadcasting last semester. Great balls of fun.

During the summer, Whitney works as a lifeguard and teaches kids swimming lessons. She loves to swim, and also works at the Rickel pool. Even though she was only about 20 minutes away from me this past summer, I only saw her twice. I'll take the blame for that. Once was, of course, post-surgery Monopoly. The other time, we had dessert and lamented about "things." All is well now.

I have to give Eric Anton his due credit here. If it wasn't for him and his impressive connections to his high school years, I never would have met Whitney. She was a year behind him at Coppell High School, and immediately upon transferring to TCU from Baylor, Eric reestablished all his ties to Coppell, and since we were fraternity brothers, I was kind of along for the ride.

Let's see...some other cool things to know about Whitney...you can often find her salsa dancing on Thursday nights or at Billy Bob's two-stepping. Last Friday, I saw her at the Cross Canadian Ragweed concert, at Billy Bob's. She's also a big fan of Four Star Coffee, a local non-Starbucks coffee shop.

A good reason why I took so long to get Whitney on the website is she used to have a dislike of being photographed. Maybe this changed this year when she's become more of a photographer herself. Whenever she would come and visit Geoff in our Clark Hall dorm (pictured at right), she would always turn the webcam away from the couch, so no one could see that she was there.

Somehow I managed to get her into the photo frame briefly, on March 25, 2002 at 10:18pm, as the caption states. This is ancient history...Geoff with his blonde tips, Ian with his braces, and Whit with her long hair.

Well, that's all the time we have for now. Congratulate Whitney on her appearance as Girl of the Week!
