"The Playhouse" or "Little Cockrell"

John, Tim, and Ashley live next door to me on Cockrell Avenue. They've been there since January 2003. Their house is the yellow one. There's a lot of interesting quirks about their house, such as the clause in their lease agreement that states that they aren't allowed in the attic. I wonder what's up there...

John named the house himself. He calls it "the Playhouse" because he says they have toys over there. The only toy I've ever seen was a loaner Xbox that's gone now. I stick with my name for the place, Little Cockrell. None of them really like that name, which makes it even more fun.

The living room at Lil Cockrell has the popular lofted couch. Tim sits on the field-level couch playing his guitar, amongst various relics like the Shaq cut-out from Radio Shaq -er- Shack. Also, a bowling pin, novelty coasters, a mini-fridge, and remnants of Kalli brownies.

The walls are nicely painted and the floors are hardwood - high quality. The coffee table is an original construction by John, who got onto a carpentry kick this summer while his girlfriend was away at camp. The surface of the coffee table is boards from the old floor of Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, where the TCU basketball team plays. They put in a new floor over the summer, and apparently anyone could get pieces of the old, as long as they were willing to root through a dumpster.

Ashley's original room was a former porch, walled in and made into a third room. Over the summer, the room got really hot in the Texas heat, so he moved into the dining room. He plans to retreat back to the Champagne Room once it gets a little bit cooler. After all, you do have to walk through his bedroom to get to the kitchen, laundry room, or backyard.

Now he can wheel his chair back and forth from his room to either use his computer or watch TV. What a life.

Next on the tour of Little Cockrell are John's room and Tim's room. The best part about John's room are his "curtains". To block out the harsh rays of sunlight, John tacked up black bedsheets to his windows. He has a futon, a TV, and a pillowtop mattress in his room. Wow!

And then there's Tim's room, which is sort of a disaster area. He's a really busy guy, so he doesn't have much time to clean. But he DOES have two computer monitors, so at least he has that going for him.

The other regular around Little Cockrell is Kalli. I'm not sure if Kalli has moved in yet or not, but she sure makes good brownies, and she's good for baseball chat and fixing holes in shirts. She likes baseball a lot, and those girls are hard to find.

So that's the second part to BYX Row. Oh yeah, I also do laundry next door. They are nice guys for allowing me access to the washer and dryer. Eventually I'll feature the third and final piece of the puzzle, those crazy guys across the street. Stay tuned.
