Girl of the Week is...

Leanna

Another spring break buddy, Leanna, is this week's Girl. Leanna's a sophomore here at the wonderful college of TCU, majoring in "middle school education." I definitely admire middle school teachers. There's something about those three years that makes students moody and difficult, so if Leanna is willing to spend her life teaching and molding them, wow. Very admirable.

Leanna has worked at Laity Lodge Youth Camp during the summer. LLYC is a Christian camp outside Kerrville. She was kind enough to send me a get well letter after my surgery last May from camp. I responded, yearning for the days when I too could be working at camp. In high school, she was a cheerleader and played volleyball. Her "signature style" is to wear bows in her hair, even though she's 19. No big deal.

Over here on the right, Leanna's making a delicious Caesar salad. While we vacationed in Miami, Leanna and the other girls were always very excited about cooking, which, in turn, excites me that I'm not responsible for it. Remember, I've failed at cooking scrambled eggs.

Out in west Texas, there's an oil town called Midland, part of the bustling Midland-Odessa metropolis. Okay, the only part of that line that was true was the oil part. Midland is a rather boring town, and I mean no disrespect to Leanna or any other Midland residents by saying that. She's come to terms with it, so can the rest of you. Anyway, Leanna has lived her whole life in this town, so I imagine she was ready to leave it and head to the "big city" of Fort Worth. I should give Fort Worth credit, it's a big city, but it's no L.A. or New York. Leanna currently lives in Waits, on the second floor, with the rest of her platoon of sophomore HIS girls. She's currently the VP in charge of social events for HIS; perhaps you remember the rumor about her and BYX vice president Eric Anton dating. That's still on the table, who knows.

I had to get the real skinny on Leanna, so I went to her friends, who asked to remain anonymous. There's just some stuff that us boys can't pick up on girls, so I needed a female perspective. As our informant said, "Leanna is the best friend a girl can have." Amber Morse, who's a very accomplished dancer, occasionally finds herself without a man to dance with at Billy Bob's. Leanna is always there to dance with Amber in these situations. Her cutesy laugh and bows make her a prime dancing partner.

If you've heard the song "Stars Over Texas" by Tracy Lawrence, that's Leanna's favorite song. Note to self...familiarize self with this song.

Okay, that's all the news on Leanna! Congratulate her on being Girl of the Week!
