Girl of the Week is...

Lauren

Okay, I know I've been lax with updating GIRL OF THE WEEK on a weekly basis. But my camera doesn't work, and I didn't have many potential features built up...until now. Lauren's a good one to start on.

You may know something about Lauren because she was one of the original Girls of the Week. A year ago, she and her roommate Kristy were featured on this very website. But now Lauren is working on a solo career, so let's learn about LAUREN.

First of all, I have to address the first picture. Lauren is sitting in her desk chair after the Texas-Arkansas football game, which was at 11am. Note the reddish tint to the right side of her face. Apparently that was the location of the sun.

Lauren goes to UT, which in itself is odd because of where she's from. Most everyone I know within the Rob/Andrew circle are from Texas. Rob and Andrew from Flower Mound, Tommy and Johnson from Victoria, Kristy from Houston. You get the idea. But Lauren hails from Boston, Massachusetts! Simply amazing. So here she is in Texas now, but apparently she's aching to return to the Eastern seaboard after college.

Lauren is a nursing major, so she knows how to treat diseases...or at least how to check blood pressure. Perhaps you remember these pictures from January 2003, when she started taking Blood Pressure 101 or something. She also used to work at a buffalo wing restaurant. That really doesn't relate to nursing, but I'm just demonstrating how she will really move up in the world when she gets her nursing degree. No more chicken wings!

There are some oddities about Lauren that I must share. On the slightly normal side, Lauren has been known to listen to the SAME song over and over and over and over again. When I last visited three weeks ago, it was "Dancing in the Moonlight" by Van Morrison. Then the Moulin Rouge version of "Your Song." Both are quality tunes, but like I said, listening to them on loop play can be...slightly odd. Under the "crazy" file, Lauren is obsessed with pork and she likes teen pop ("Hey Juliet" by LMNT). She also went to an all-girls Catholic high school, which is more intriguing than crazy.

Lauren's parents have since moved away from suburban Boston to Pelham, New Hampshire. But this past summer, Lauren worked at a YMCA camp that she attended as a middle school and high school student. Camp Hayward is on Cape Cod. Andrew also worked there this summer, but rather at the boys' camp. She had a day off every few weeks or so, and I got to keep in touch via AIM on those rare occasions. She was sad that she hadn't received a letter from me. So I sent one. She didn't respond (neither did Andrew), but at least I did my part. She's been forgiven too. Rob got a letter from Andrew, or should I say, Lobsterbush received correspondence from Movie Guy. Evidence

BREAKING NEWS! Lauren is deathly afraid of crickets. Sometimes they infiltrate her first-floor apartment. When this happens, she does have the gall to trap them with shot glasses, and then let them suffocate until Kristy comes home to release them out into the wild.

I also have this...an IM conversation within an IM conversation about how some dude Lauren knows sent her to my site. Lauren of course had to set him straight and let him know she's a STAR on the Voorn Project!

Okay, Lauren is definitely highly qualified to be Girl of the Week. But there's one thing that's lacking. She has never visited The Voorn Project corporate headquarters here in Fort Worth, Texas. This will change though... stay tuned for up-to-date news.

UP-TO-DATE NEWS! Wow, that didn't take long.

Lauren is scheduled to come to Fort Worth in October. I may go see her and Andrew and Rob and Kristy in Dallas when she's there for the Texas-OU game, but then she comes to see TCU over homecoming weekend. Let the countdown begin!
