| Girl
of the Week is...
Katie
What can I say about Katie Boggs? Oh there's plenty. Let's start with the basic facts of course - Katie is a senior early childhood education major from Topeka, Kansas. That's the standard Student Foundation introductory line. Katie is in Student Foundation with me and she too is an expert tour guide..like me.
I know quite a few education majors, but I don't think anyone truly defines the major like Boggey does. Miss Boggs is very devoted to her kids, spending extra time preparing lesson plans rather than partying the night away on a Sunday. And on the side, she babysits. Katie
is from this mythical place called "Topeka, Kansas." I don't
know much about it, and when I picked Katie's brain about it, it seemed
that she was glad that we weren't in Kansas anymore, Toto. The most exciting
thing about it is that her stepdad is building a golf course in town.
NOW it'll be a vacation hotspot. Katie's stepdad is a well-known columnist
for Golf Digest magazine. This is very impressive, however, I
know nothing about golf Katie's home at TCU is the "Dollhouse", which she shares with Anna "Phillie" Phillips and Courtney "Snydie" Snyder. Phillie and Snydie are regulars around the Dirty Neeley, being business majors. All three girls are seniors, and sisters in sweet home Delta Gamma. I call it the Dollhouse because of the yellow siding, red door, and quaint front porch. Inside is decorated in bright colors, DG anchors, and plenty of knick-knacks. Katie lives in the attic. You get to it by stairs in the garage. Remember that about 80% of TCU moved into a house after I did (remember how I start trends), and I've taken many house tours. I say with strong conviction that Katie has the COOLEST room of anyone at TCU. She calls it the "hobbit hole." Boggey and I have done many cool things together. She was at the Pat Green concert this summer. I had to pay for her ticket, but she was very prompt in paying me back with a personal check. She was a regular at the Cockrell Summer Porch Party Series 2003. She was one of the few fans who braved the rain and gloom and watched the Sons of Thunder at Chi-O Frats at Bat last spring. She introduced me to the wonders of Hobby Lobby too.
My favorite activity we've done was BYX Date Dash last spring. For the second straight year, we went roller skating. I am a novice roller-skater, and to say it frankly, I suck. I always dreaded childhood birthday parties because I was the worst skater. Luckily my therapist says I've nearly recovered from the trauma. Anyway, Katie agreed to go with me. As we walked up to the roller rink, I confessed that I was the world's worst skater. She was very helpful in keeping me from falling, and if the next officer corps decides once again to go roller skating, I'm all for it. Thanks Boggey! Why,
oh why can't I smile without looking so dang goofy... Well, that's all I have for now. Katie gets to be Girl of the Week, an honor that is long overdue! And I'll get a photo of the Dollhouse soon. |
