The first Girl of the Week for 2003 is...

Cici

So Meredith had Girl of the Week all to herself for practically a month. I was at home in Flower Mound over the Christmas break so I didn't have a chance to update. Everyone is sorry to see Meredith go, but this week, we have a brand new Girl in Cici. Cici is also the first Girl to be photographed with my new digital camera.

Saturday night the 11th a big group went to Babe's Chicken after the TCU-Cincinnati basketball game. Cici was there, and I snapped these photos of her hanging out in an antique shop across the street.

Here's Cici holding one of those smelly candles they sell in country antique shops. She's obviously in the middle of saying something, but I can't remember what it was.

I first got to know Cici after she talked relentlessly about the musical Rent. It is her favorite musical, of which I am a fan too, although I've never seen it performed (I just listen to the music). So that's how Cici and I bond...we talk about musicals. She has seen a bunch, probably not as many as me, but that's forgivable.

Cici is a freshman this year, from Mineral Wells, a town that I know all too well unfortunately. It's on the drive to Worth Ranch, so I've stopped at all the cool places like the fast food joints, Woody's Hamburgers, the Wal-Mart, and the Laumdronat (including the washing machine museum). She's lived in Mineral Wells for 8 years now.

She's in HIS, and is the little of another cool girl, Leslie Ginger, so she's got good bloodlines. She's a speech pathology major, and her brother is a junior at TCU, a guy that I lived near in Clark Hall. Her parents went to TCU, plus her grandmother and great-grandfather. She's from a true Horned Frog family.

Be careful boys...Cici has a boyfriend of one year named Evan, who's an Aggie. She's got a dog and four horses on her family ranch out west. Speaking of "out west" Cici has such notable awards to her name such as "2001 Sheriff Posse Sweetheart" and "2001 Palo Pinto County Livestock Association Rodeo Queen Runner-Up". In high school, she was a volleyball and basketball player as well as powerlifter. I guess I wasn't the first one to be curious about that, so she explained it to me. She and her teammate placed first in a national competition!

Cici considers herself a true Texas girl, "curly hair and country music." She's really into Billy Bob's and Steel Magnolias. She loves her chicken fingers, mashed potatoes, green beans, and pink lemonade! (that's her favorite meal). In addition to country, she loves rock music, but no rap, I'm told. Elvis is the second coming or something to her, so in honor of her I ate the rest of my Elvis chocolate CD I got for Christmas.

Be sure to get to know Cici before she picks up and leaves for New York to be famous...and forget about all of us here in Texas!

I think she's excited about eating Babe's Chicken.
