Girl of the Week is...

Brooke

Brooke is another one of those Flower Mound girls...kind of. Her family recently moved from the upper middle class Dallas suburb of Flower Mound to the cow and ranchland of Decatur, Texas. All I know about Decatur is that I used to pass through it on my way to Sid Richardson Scout Ranch. But apparently there's some sort of draw.

(On the right) Brooke with her grandmother.

I've known Brooke for quite some time. Mary Chester brought her to a youth event at Vista Ridge Methodist back in the day. I think I was a junior in high school at the time. Yeah, I think that's right because I would see Mary and Brooke at school. They were lowly freshmen at Marcus High while I was a junior. Yeah, sounds right.

After spending a wonderful year at the greatest high school around, Brooke transferred to the new Flower Mound High School. It started as a freshman & sophomore campus, and at the time, Brooke was a sophomore. So she did get to be the first graduating class at FMHS, but she had to leave Marcus. Through the youth group and FMHS, Brooke got to be good friends with Adrienne. I remember her trying to convince me to come home for Adrienne's 16th birthday party, which was thrown by Brooke at 2816. Unfortunately, I missed it - that was my first semester at TCU.

So what is Brooke up to these days? Well, she's now a sophomore in college, at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in lovely Belton, Texas. She's a baseball team groupie or something. All I know is if she's not spending time in College Station, she's hanging out with athletes. But only until midnight - that's curfew!

A few months ago, some high school girls came to visit UMHB. Brooke decided to take them under her wing and show them a great time in fabulous Belton. They had a great time - I need to check back with Brooke to see if they decided to come to UMHB. (The picture below is Brooke on the left with the two high school girls. It sure makes Brooke look short.)

For spring break, Brooke also went to Florida. But instead of going to happenin' South Beach, she was on the Gulf coast, hanging out in retirement land with her grandmother. Still not a bad trip - she got plenty of sun and relaxation in.

Brooke proved her beach vacation to me by sending me some beach pictures. She looks REALLY tan, but I think her amateur photographer just missed turning on the flash.

Brooke's family consists of her (the oldest daughter) and two younger sisters, originally named Lauren and Allie. I think they go by different names now that presently allude me. Their middle names, possibly. Brooke's parents are really cool too, except when her dad doesn't have faith in my driving skills. Here's the story:

Last August, I was working valet at Reata, when I saw Brooke's parents walk by with another couple. They walked into the restaurant lobby, but I followed them in to say hello. When I told them I work valet, the other man with Brooke's dad pokes him in the ribs. Earlier, he had suggested that Brooke's dad valet his car, but his response was, "Eh, the valets will probably wreck it." Thanks for the vote of confidence!

Well, I guess I didn't mean to end with a funny story about Brooke's dad, but there ya go. Next time you're in Belton, Texas, say hello to Brooke. But I'm sure you're never in Belton.
