Girl of the Week is...

Becky

I can't believe I've waited this long to do a GIRL OF THE WEEK feature on Becky. I've had some pictures for awhile, this one below I took at Cici's first ever ranch campout back in April 2003. Becky, like me, chose not to participate in the mud fight and subsequent river bath that weekend. We're both smart that way.

Let's review a brief history of Becky. She is a sophomore at TCU, but originally from the Austin area. She says she's from Austin, but lives in Round Rock, yet went to Leander High School. I don't understand either, but she did show up at Jane's house over New Year's. That proves she lives close by, because she didn't stay the night like the rest of us did, rather she left at 2am, which I guess allowed her to get home in time.

Anyway, currently Becky resides in Waits Hall with Shannon. These two girls have lived together in the dorm for two years, keeping the same roommate. I love roommate success stories, partly because I, too, am one. Becky likes to spend her time with other sophomore girls, several of which have had the honor of being Girl of the Week prior (e.g. Cici, Amanda, Meredith B, Meredith A, Jane, Erin) These are fun girls and I like to hang out with them as well, since they have yet to say "Ian, you're too old to play with us."

Becky sat in the "luxury box" for the TCU-Southern Miss game watching party. For the game, we watched it on a huge projection screen in the apartment commons. Becky and I sat on the balcony of the third floor and watched it from up high. Unfortunately, TCU lost the game and its BCS bowl game hopes, but it was still a fun night. Oh who am I kidding, the night sucked. The campus was in a funk afterward, but this picture where we are smiling was obviously taken before the game ended.

Something else that's notable about Becky is her love for music, especially live music. She is from Austin, and apparently it's a living requirement to be in love with live music. Or maybe her residency caused the love. It's one of those chicken-and-egg stories. She has recommended several bands to me, one of which I'm still waiting to come back to Fort Worth (Vallejo). I'm always the guy talking up my favorite bands that no one has heard of (Mingo Fishtrap) but Becky did come by a free concert at Frog Fountain to watch Mingo. She was very impressed, and maybe she'll come to one of their concerts at the Aardvark, where girls get in free on Thursday nights. Any girl willing to try out new bands is a winner to me.

Billy also sat in the luxury box that fateful night. He isn't as photogenic as Becky is.

Did you know that Becky's aunt is a radio DJ? Well, she is. It took me awhile to make the connection, though. Becky had mentioned her aunt on a few occasions, but it wasn't until Mix 102.9 held a wine tasting party at Reata that I made the connection. Becky came by to visit her aunt, and I happened to be working valet that night. I thought about it for a second, and realized that morning drive-time DJ Anna Deharo must be this aunt that Becky had been talking about, since they have the same last name. Turns out, I was right.

Here's Becky having a blast at the tree lighting, back in December:

And Becky surely didn't escape the photographer that takes others' pictures while they are taking pictures. If you've forgotten, here's the composite. She's the one on the right.

And that's all about Becky for now. It's possible that some funny stories will come rolling in during the next few days. I'll add those as I get them, so stay tuned! Oh yeah, she has a boyfriend named Caleb, so don't IM me for her number. Caleb is a cool guy, I've met him before. I figure I should mention that. I don't mean to make it an afterthought, but if there was a "Girl of the Week's Boyfriend of the Week" page, man Caleb, you'd be the first.
