I met Ashley at the first BYX party of my career, "Pure Country." This was back in October of 2000. I was out on the dance floor, looking spiffy in my Post 52 overalls and a borrowed cowboy hat, and this brunette girl catches my eye. At that point, I did something that I had NEVER done before: ask a girl I had just met for her number. Ashley smiles and gives it to me, then I take her to BYX Victory a few weeks later. In the weeks afterward, she became a good friend, and has remained so ever since.

A little about Ashley...she hails from Conroe, Texas, which is north of Houston. She received a lot of flack from her friends back home after she chose not to attend Texas A&M. She was on the drill team in high school, and is old friends with some other TCU students, like Allisa and Nathan. They've got some sort of Disciples of Christ church camp thing going on. Ashley is also a vice president of her sorority, Sigma Kappa.

Time for funny Ashley stories. I took Ashley to BYX Formal spring of my freshman year (2001). I double dated with Ashley Menzies, but to add even more confusion, Ashley Menzies' date was also named Ashley. That made for 3 Ashleys and an Ian. I took to calling her "Walton" afterward to make the distinction.

Nowadays, I rarely see Ashley [Walton]. She's busy doing her thing as am I, but when we do get together it's always fun. It's interesting to see how people change and mature as they get older, something I've been able to see in Ashley, since I've known her for quite some time. I will continue to make fun of her boyfriends until she dates someone from BYX.
