Amanda Freakin Redmon!

All right, another week, another girl! This week, The Voorn Project is proud to feature a very "funny" girl, Amanda "Red" Redmon. She is very excited about this instantaneous fame she's getting.

Let's set the way-back machine to January 2003...or maybe it was February. It's about 2:30 AM, and I'm lying in bed. I can't get to sleep due to a ruckus in the backyard of Lil Cockrell. I head over to watch Ashley hosting his own "gallon challenge" where four or five of his friends are attempting to drink a gallon of milk in an hour. Just a side note, this NEVER works, but it's funny to watch people try and prove science wrong. In this case, two girls were also competing (with 2% milk): Shannon and Amanda.

I came over about 45 minutes into the competition. No one had honked yet, but it was inevitable. Amanda had a horrid look on her face as I thought I recognized her from a film class. Sure enough, turns out we had Film Aesthetics together, but she was more concerned at that point about NOT spewing all over the grass and thus losing the contest. Well, the milk eventually won, as she ralphed it all over the lawn. But it was a fun night regardless.

So what is there to say about "Red"? Well, she has red hair, which goes well with her last name, and her car, which is also red. I think my favorite thing about her is how she gets embarrassed REALLY easily. She claims she's not always that ditzy, but it just happens to occur when I'm around...such as her frequent misspellings (which everyone does, but she takes very seriously) and her obsession with Oprah.

Amanda is from the Houston area (surprise, surprise), along with about 74% of the TCU population. That stat is actually incorrect, but sometimes it feels that way. More specifically, she's from Katy, home to people like Scott, Dustin, Russ, Stacey, Emily, Kara, Brent, and the great Ryan Couch. Has anyone heard from him recently? Yeah, so Katy is a popular feeder city for TCU students. I've been there several times, it's a nice place.

Back to Amanda...let's see...from the picture above, you can see her obsession with Diet Coke (and butter, I guess. Didn't know about that one). In the Main at TCU, you can get soda from the fountain in 21oz, 32oz, or 44oz cups. Amanda tends to buy a TANKER cup, 44 OUNCES OF DIET COKE!! SO MUCH SODA AHHH!! Yes, I call them "tankers" and a suggestion has been to tap it to her vein. I wish I could tell you how big this cup is. When she brings it to her mouth, it's so big you can't see the rest of her face.

Enough about Diet Coke, let's move onto Amanda's favorite sandwich: peanut butter, jelly, and Oreo cookies. Yes, she spreads peanut butter on one slice of bread, jelly on the other, then puts Oreos in between for a delicious (and healthy?) snack. She was amazed I had never tried it. I think Pam would've had a coronary if she knew I was eating something so unhealthy and passing it off as a meal.

So apparently butter spray has zero calories, zero fat, and zero sodium. What is it?? And why does it still taste like butter? So confusing. More stuff about Red...apparently she's obsessed with Brandon Boyd of Incubus. She's been to a concert too, and passed out from the intense smell of marijuana. And when Amanda isn't drinking tanks of Diet Coke at the Main, she's eating Chipotle...and what I didn't know was that she went on a "burrito fast" for a while, but now she's back.

If you recall the photos from the Rumor Mill of "arts and crafts night" in Waits, Amanda was there, smiling, but she isn't really into the whole arts and crafts thing, like Kelly and Geoff are. In the process of filling a candy jar (with candy), she stuffed it so full that the glass broke. "I'm just trying to be a good big!!" she cried.

There are other things that I could say about Amanda...about how she is inept at a simple task like plugging in an Ethernet cord (she plugged hers into her roommate's jack). Or I could talk about how she fell off the top bunk while sleeping. But the real thing you have to know is that Amanda is hardcore when it comes to a game that she calls "THE BOWL OF DEATH." The rules are similar to John Anderson's Lick It Stick It, where you have to answer embarrassing questions. But Bowl of Death sounds evil whereas Lick It Stick It sounds...well, grossly erotic. And we'll end there.
