Girl of the Week for December 1 is...

Meredith!
(a different Meredith...the blonde one on the right >----> )

Yes, I know, a few weeks ago the Girl of the Week was Meredith Baker. This time it's Meredith Alonso. Both of them are freshmen, and they're both new members in HIS. From here on out, when I say "Meredith", I mean Alonso.

I think everyone around me knew about Meredith before I even met her. She is the younger sister of Todd Alonso, a BYX alumnus who was a senior when I was a freshman, back in 2000-2001. She came to that spring's Island Party, where she met several BYX guys - Geoff possibly - but unfortunately I was not there that year, due to another commitment. Fast forward 15 months, Ian is a junior now and Meredith is a freshman, and I finally get to meet "Todd Alonso's little sister." From here on out, she will NEVER be referred to as that again. Fact is, they are complete opposites. Todd is the bespectacled dude in the blue shirt below. On the right here, Amber (L) says this pic is not good and she "ruined it." Pshaw! It's a great pic, because Amber loves baseball, that's why. It's just kinda funny 'cause Meredith has to lean in a little, since Amber's a little short-statured.

Meredith, as she says, is all about "typical girl stuff", like getting dressed up, talking about boys, and watching chick flicks. But what makes Meredith really interesting is how she's different from typical girls. She's really into cars and loves watching football. She is "in the process of learning" (like it's a class or something) about Shelby Cobras, MGAs, and other sports cars. But to truly be a sports car aficionado, she needs to drive a standard transmission.

Some other passions of Meredith include cooking and decorating. She was going to be an interior design major, but opted for business instead. Let's give it up for business! I bet it really grates on her nerves how none of our couches match in the living room. She's a great cook, I had some of her red & green cake (the CAKE was green, not the frosting. WEIRD), and she keeps trying to pawn her baked hams on me, but I continually refuse. Just not in a ham mood, sorry.

Meredith is a native of Fort Worth, but she's never gotten into the country music scene. She has an extreme distaste for country music, and Billy Bob's! I didn't know it was possible when you spend 18 years of your life in a city nicknamed "Cowtown." She appreciates all other genres of music. The picture on the left is Meredith when she met Sum 41 at a concert. Hmm...I wonder if she plays any instruments? Not to my knowledge. Todd plays the flute and the sax (dang it! I wasn't supposed to mention him).

Lately, she's taken to calling herself "Dith", as in short for Meredith. Dith really isn't even a word, much less a name, so I decided to call her "Red" as in meREDith. Hey, every picture on this page she's dressed in some sort of red. I think it's an appropriate nickname.

Hooray for Meredith and being Girl of the Week! Yes, this has been the long-awaited debut of Meredith on this section of the Voorn Project, but she's finally up!

December 15: New Meredith Stuff!

I found out even more info about Meredith in the past few days. For one, she's been dancing since she was around 2, like just as soon as she could walk. She doesn't dance here at TCU, but when I say that, I mean academically. She dances all the time for fun. Also, she's a huge Russell Crowe fan. I don't know if it's the Aussie accent, the rugged beard, or his excellent acting, but Meredith sure is in awe!

The car on the right is a Shelby Cobra, blue with a white racing stripe, just like Meredith's dream car.

On Thursday, I got to see the dress and of course, Meredith wearing it. This dress was good enough to be the subject of conversations a week before formal happened. It's black, and it has silvery flowers on it. I was impressed, so impressed that I had to have a picture with it, to prove I saw it. And of course, Meredith had to be in it too, since she was in the dress.

Meredith, one more time, with a friend.

Enjoy Meredith for another week, then I may have to feature "Girl of the Week Greatest Hits" since things kinda shut down over Christmas.
